Recognition
The dorsal bundles have bifid or simple chaetae but no hairs.
The chaetae before 7 are simple pointed and up to 10 per bundle.
The dorsal chaetae behind 7 may have up to 8 chaetae per bundle,
these are laterally expanded with several minute teeth.
Summary
A small tubificid (10 - 15 mm).
Asexual reproduction by budding and fragmentation is common.
It lives in especially tough tubes of mesotrophic, weedy areas.
Distribution
A widespread nearctic species.
