Specaria hellei (Brinkhurst & Jamieson)
Recognition
Two long serrate and one shorter dorsal hair chaetae are present.
The dorsal needle chaetae are bifid, number 1 to 3 and they are sigmoid
similar to the ventral chaetae and often number more
than 2 in anterior bundles unlike Nais and Specaria fraseri.
The dorsal needles have 1 or more pectinations unlike Specaria josinae,
Eyes are never present in this genus unlike most Nais.
Summary
This species was originally placed in Vejdovskyella.
The length is about 5 mm.
Distribution
Reported from Alaska and British Columbia in brackish water.
